Finger or Pacifier Sucking

According to the American Dental Association and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, children should ideally stop sucking their fingers and pacifiers between the ages of 2 and 4. If pacifier or finger sucking continue after this age range, it can negatively affect normal growth of facial and airway structures. This may lead to the need for orthodontic correction, palatal expansion, and surgical interventions to widen the airway. If the habits continue after orthodontics, relapse of dental misalignment may even occur.

OMT can help interrupt these parafunctional habits, and help promote normal growth of the face and airway structures.
